The staff and officers of the National Guard Association of Kentucky – NGAKy – serve each of our members in the model of “Ask not what your Country can do for you…”. As soldiers and airmen of the National Guard of our Great Commonwealth roll up their sleeves and tend to the business of our National defense – at home and around the globe – our Association is chartered to support each of those who support each of us.
We are blessed with a rich heritage as a force, and boast some of the most beloved names in American history: Daniel Boone, Davey Crockett, and Abraham Lincoln each called Kentucky home, as do each of the modern-day American heroes we serve. Our strength is in our members, and our membership numbers continue to grow. In the months ahead, we will rely heavily on the members of our Board of Directors to reach into their respective constituencies, and explore how we may better serve the membership. And, while the numbers of our membership roster are important, the quality of our membership is just as important. We rely on those who not only serve on our Board of Directors, but those who volunteer to serve on the various committees and staffs – each of which perform the scores of tasks necessary for the smooth operation of our Association. May we count you among those who go the extra step, serve on a committee for our Association, and lend a hand for the greater good?
Our voices have been heard on so many issues in years past: Successes in gaining access to TriCare for every one of our National Guardsmen and women is but one story. This substantial victory bore fruit after years of hard work and diligence by several who had the vision to start the effort several years ago, and those who were willing to stay the course, and maintain legislative pressure. Lobbying for reduced retirement age is another of our continuing efforts that must be seen as a multi-year endeavor; and each year, we edge closer to making this a reality.
At the end of the day, our Association exists for one purpose: To amplify, multiply and focus the voice of each of our members to improve the quality of life and service for those in the National Guard of Kentucky. This website is but one way we communicate – getting information to you, and enabling your dialogue with the Association. We need to hear from you, what is important to you, and how we may better serve you! I encourage each of our members to not only ask their fellow Kentucky National Guard members if we may count them among our numbers; but to ask how we may better serve one another – today, and in the years ahead. My commitment to you as your NGAKy President, is to keep you informed, and to place the needs of our membership at the top of our priorities list; and I thank you for the opportunity to serve each of you.
